Luke Haeger
An Appeal to Heaven
November 14 – December 19

Opening Reception: November 14, 6–9 PM
Gallery Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 12–6 PM or by appointment

These images break
Hellbent on self destruction
The fantasy bends
An illusion of time
A heavenly absence
The delusion of mind
in question
I’ve always had the ways
The buffalo saints
all my life
Those generational hides
Im down on my ways
The yellow brick cemetery
Guides out the way
To Nirvana felt lines
And diluted in faith
We are ready for all
of those rides
towards unitary mind
Collected in peace
the golden light of your life

Luke Haeger is an American visual artist whose work fuses autobiographical storytelling with a raw, hand-felt, touch. He was born in Paradise Valley, Montana, and subsequently lived nomadically in seven other states, across countless houses, endless schools and experiences. Haeger lived virtually every aspect of contemporary American life, which is highly felt in his work.

He studied under Barbara Kruger, Andrea Fraser, Charles Ray, and James Welling at UCLA and CalArts. Sam Durant was his advisor during his MFA at CalArts.

During his CalArts MFA, his thesis performance involved maxing out his student loans investing in highly volatile meme coins, turning some $20-30,000 into $500,000 at a high point. He tattooed the name of the most invested coin, Relevant, on his back in reference to LeBron James’s CHOSEN1 tattoo. Already versed in accelerationist theory, Haeger began befriending insiders in AI, crypto, and greater-tech–giving him a firsthand knowledge and future insight to what is playing out today in our societal and technological landscape.

Haeger is deeply hand-felt and highly humanist in nature. Combined with his knowledge and mind map, he’s an artist who is highly critical, observant, willing, and able in understanding these highly de-material times. Thus, he’s in a rare superposition to produce the most relevant physical visual art of our time.
